Parental occurrence of stroke and risk of stroke in their children: the Framingham study

In a nutshell: The aim of this study was to determine if parental occurrence of stroke increased incident stroke risk among offspring in a community-based sample. The study found that parental stroke by 65 years of age was associated with a 3-fold increase in the risk of offspring stroke.

Increased Risk of Stroke After Adhesive Capsulitis

Physical Activity and Risk of Stroke in Women

In a nutshell: The aim of this study was to examine the association between physical activity and stroke risk in a large cohort of women. This study shows a tendency for leisure-time physical activity to be associated with lower stroke risk in women. In particular, walking was generally associated with lower risks of total, ischemic, and hemorrhagic stroke.

Hyperthyroidism and Risk of Ischemic Stroke in Young Adults

In a nutshell: The aim of this study was to estimate the risk for ischemic stroke among hyperthyroidism patients aged 18 to 44 years during a 5-year period after the diagnosis compared to a cohort of patients without hyperthyroidism. It was found that hyperthyroidism is associated with an increased risk for ischemic stroke among young adults.
