In a nutshell: A new scheme has been introduced at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital allowing patients to go home early with specialist care being provided in their own homes. As part of the six-month pilot project the hospital is also reducing the number of stroke beds from 56 to 36.

In a nutshell: The aim of this systematic review was to pool data from all studies comparing the functional benefits of home-based vs. centre-based community rehabilitation for people with stroke. The study concludes that the provision of rehabilitation for people living in the community should trend towards home-based.
